Best Candidates

Metal braces are a great choice for both adults and children. MINT dentistry uses braces made of high-grade, stainless steel arch wires held in place with brackets that are strategically placed to gently move your teeth into optimal position. They are an ideal choice for patients with a misaligned jaw, gapped or crowded teeth or under or overbites. We also use top-quality elastics that are simple to apply and don't break easily. During your consultation, we will discuss your options so you can choose the method that fits your needs and goals.

What to Expect

After your initial exam, a custom treatment plan will be developed by your team to fit your needs and goals. On the day of your appointment, you will be asked to settle into one of our relaxing treatment chairs in a well-equipped procedure room. After slipping on a set of our Beats headphones and a pair of our MINT sunglasses, your teeth will be prepared and cleaned before we put on your braces. Once we have applied the bonding agent to your teeth, your brackets will be carefully placed. When the brackets are set, we will thread the arch wire through. You can then pick your elastic band color(s). The tiny bands attach the wire to the brackets. In most cases, the process is quick and patients often experience no pain. You will need to make appointments at our office once a month for adjustments and progress exams.

Treatment Aftercare

Wearing braces can make flossing and brushing your teeth more challenging. However, proper oral hygiene is essential to your orthodontic treatment. Before you leave our office wearing braces for the first time, our team will teach you how to clean your teeth and provide you with helpful tips. We strongly suggest that you brush and floss your teeth after every meal. Keeping all your orthodontic appointments as well as twice-yearly cleanings will also help to ensure optimal results. Generally, patients have braces for one or two years, but your treatment time will depend on the starting alignment of your teeth. After your teeth are in the correct position, we will remove your braces and move you into a retainer. Your team will help you choose the right retainer for your needs.

The MINT Commitment

If you are concerned about fitting an orthodontic treatment into your budget, traditional braces are usually less expensive. During your first appointment, we will explain your options and costs, so you can choose the method that fits your goals and budget. If you have insurance, our financial coordinator will contact your provider to clarify your coverage and determine your personal costs. If you don't have insurance, we accept many payment methods and our team can give your information on low-interest financing.
